ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: With the development of chemical synthesis technology, the application of chitosan-based hydrogels as wound dressing has become a hotspot in current research. OBJECTIVE: To generally introduce the chitosan-based hydrogels and to review and summarize the application of chitosan-based hydrogels carrying antimicrobial agents in wound healing.METHODS: A computer retrieval of PubMed, Web of Science, Springerlink and Medline databases was performed with "chitosan hydrogel, wound healing, dressing, antimicrobial agents" as key words for relevant articles published from 2007 to 2016. Initially, 168 articles were retrieved, and finally 76 articles were included in result analysis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Because of their inherent anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, chitosan-based hydrogels possess the ability of absorbing exudates and forming thin film between the wound and the external environment, to exert their advantages for chronic, non-healing wounds caused by infection. Furthermore, chitosan-based hydrogels carrying antibacterial agents can inhibit the growth of microorganisms in the wound, accelerating the progress of wound healing. Moreover, the antimicrobial agents, including organic antibacterial agents and inorganic antibacterial agents (especially nano-silver), show unique advantages in wound healing and microbial resistance in combination with chitosan-based hydrogels.

ABSTRACT

lacZα-mini-attTn7 was inserted into the intergenic region between the gG and gD genes in a PRV bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) by homologous recombination in E. coli. The resulting recombinant BAC (pBeckerZF1) was confirmed by PCR and sequencing. Green fluorescent protein (GFP) gene was then transposed into pBeckerZF1 by transposon Tn7 to generate pBeckerZF2. Recombinant viruses vBeckerZF1 and vBeckerZF2 were generated by transfection with the corresponding BAC pBeckerZF1 or pBeckerZF2. The titers and cytopathic effect (CPE) observed for by vBeckerZF1 and vBeckerZF2 was comparable to that of the parental virus vBecker3. vBeckerZF2 was serial passaged for five rounds in cell culture, and the mini-Tn7 insertion was stably maintained in viral genome. These results show that recombinant viruses can be rapidly and reliably created by Tn7-mediated transposition. This technology should accelerate greatly the pace at which recombinant PRV can be generated and, thus, facilitate the use of recombinant viruses for detailed mutagenic studies.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the effects of PRCB1a (one component of polysaccharides from Radix Cynanchi Bungei) on transformation of T lymphocytes of rabbit in vitro and immune function in mice.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>Three doses of PRCB1a (2,4,6 g x L(-1)) were respectively put in bottle with PHA and blood of rabbit. The effect of PRCB1a on immunity in vitro was studied by observing transformation of T lymphocytes; The dosage of PRCB1a (50,100,150 mg x kg(-1) x d(-1)) was given orally for seven days. The effects on immune function were investigated in mice.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>Three doses of PRCB1a could significantly promote (P < 0.01) the ability of T lymphocytes proliferation; PRCB1a could improve the mouse thymus and spleen index, the celiac macrophage ability of engulfing CRBC, the delayed type hypersensitivity ability and the macrophage engulfing carbon granula ability.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The results indicate PRCB1a can enhance nonspectific and specific cellular immune function.</p>
